Love Is In the Air

Happy Valentine's Day!  I hope you are all celebrating this day with love, laughter, and fair trade organic chocolate.  Make cool hearts like this with your own personal message at Candy Hearts

We celebrated with my son's school yesterday.  He made the Valentine's we ordered.  They even came with soy crayons to use!

And I saw this tip for teacher's gifts over at The Smith Family.  I love it because it reuses a glass jar and is simple and easy to make at home.  We are not very crafty around here, but we gave it a shot and I think they turned out pretty well.
My husband and I will go out to a movie tonight (any good suggestions?) thanks to a well planned visit from Grandma but we try to keep our presents simple, thoughtful, and handmade.  We find that something we made each other always means much more than a store bought gift and supports our goals of saving money and consuming less.  I opened my closet today to find this:

And I have used this journal for the past four years.  I pick it up every year about 2 weeks before Valentine's Day and write a little each day about my love for him.  I recount things that happen during our day or week and how I am reminded that I love him.  He enjoys reading it each year and it's fun to see how our love has grown.

What are you doing to show your love today?  For yourself?  For others?  Do you have any great Valentine's Day traditions?

Green Grab Bag 02.13.09

I am starting something new here at Green Gracious.  It's called the Green Grab Bag.  The idea is that every week while cruising the internet I find all kinds of cool ideas that I want to shout about from the roof-tops.  But, as my roof is kind of slippery right now and I don't think the deer really care, I have decided to share them every Friday with all of you.  So if you are goofing off on Fridays or have time to kill on the weekends, you will have great sites to see.
And finally if you are looking to do some shopping this weekend I found a few great things.
Have a very happy Friday and if you've seen any great sites this week, please share!

The Proximidade Award

One of our lovely followers...ok, I have to make a side comment on followers.  I am SO grateful for all of you who subscribe and follow the blog!  It makes me so happy to see more and more people getting something out of Green Gracious.  Last night I exclaimed to my husband, "Honey!  I have 14 followers!!!"  To which my clever and hubby replied, "More than Jesus." ...now where was I...Oh yes, the lovely Owl and Fox has graced me with the Proximidade Award:

This blog invests and believes in PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes for self-aggrandizement!
Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers!

The rules are: This blog award should be sent to your favorite eight bloggers and they, in turn should forward to eight of their favorites. You should include the text for Proximidade (above) in your announcement blog.

I would like to share this gem of an award with:

Emilie at Breadcrumbs
Sara at Mama Craft
Michele at MLDB

Thank you for the sweet recognition which is what us bloggies thrive on.
