Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you are all celebrating this day with love, laughter, and fair trade organic chocolate. Make cool hearts like this with your own personal message at Candy Hearts. We celebrated with my son's school yesterday. He made the Valentine's we ordered. They even came with soy crayons to use!
And I saw this tip for teacher's gifts over at The Smith Family. I love it because it reuses a glass jar and is simple and easy to make at home. We are not very crafty around here, but we gave it a shot and I think they turned out pretty well.
My husband and I will go out to a movie tonight (any good suggestions?) thanks to a well planned visit from Grandma but we try to keep our presents simple, thoughtful, and handmade. We find that something we made each other always means much more than a store bought gift and supports our goals of saving money and consuming less. I opened my closet today to find this:
And I have used this journal for the past four years. I pick it up every year about 2 weeks before Valentine's Day and write a little each day about my love for him. I recount things that happen during our day or week and how I am reminded that I love him. He enjoys reading it each year and it's fun to see how our love has grown.
What are you doing to show your love today? For yourself? For others? Do you have any great Valentine's Day traditions?
