We don't really have traditions, but my husband did buy me some red tulips.Tiffanyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07191011478662020856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4230963090171162746.post-62939429157022003252009-02-14T15:59:00.000-05:002009-02-14T15:59:00.000-05:00Happy Valentine's Day, Willo ... and thanks for st...Happy Valentine's Day, Willo ... and thanks for stopping by my page and peeking at my kitchen. It's a beautiful sunny day in central California, after lots of cold rain earlier in the week and even early this morning.

Your valentine's gifts are perfect. My husband Ray and I don't exchange gifts on Valentine's Day, and we've only gone out to dinner that night once in 25 years of marriage, when I was pregnant with our first child. We prefer to stay home and make a nice dinner for just the 2 of us, and maybe watch a movie or just hang out together.

This may sound strange, but Ray tells everyone that Valentine's Day -- and New Year's Eve -- are for amateurs. Not the holidays themselves, but the huge fuss, commercialism, and crowded overpriced restaurants. We both love to cook, and would much rather eat a wonderful meal at home instead of surrounded by strangers who feel obligated to "show their love" by buying into the Hallmark hype :o)

I love roses, and Ray brings them home often, but always as a surprise. There are so many ways to celebrate our relationship all year long.

And this Valentine's Day? Ray is on call this weekend (he's a clinical pharmacist), so he's already spent several hours at the pharmacy for his hospice patients. Tonight he'll cook rack of lamb (if he's not back at the pharmacy) and we'll watch a movie. I'm spending my day wallpapering the breakfast room, so we can start to put things back together and use that room again, instead of eating on TV trays all the time.

Victoria :o)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
